1.Nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate): Cialis and nitrates both lower blood pressure. Taking them together can cause a significant and potentially life-threatening drop in blood pressure (hypotension), leading to dizziness, fainting, or even heart attack or stroke. It is contraindicated to use Cialis with nitrates or recreational "poppers" (amyl nitrites).
2.Alpha-blockers (e.g., prazosin, terazosin, tamsulosin): Both Cialis and alpha-blockers relax blood vessels, which can lead to excessive blood pressure reduction when used together. This may result in dizziness, fainting, or orthostatic hypotension (a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing). If needed, your doctor may adjust the dosage or recommend spacing the medications.
3.Other antihypertensive drugs (e.g., atenolol, propranolol, enalapril, lisinopril): Cialis can enhance the blood-pressure-lowering effects of these medications. While this interaction is usually less severe than with nitrates or alpha-blockers, it can still cause dizziness or fainting in sensitive individuals. Close monitoring of blood pressure is recommended.
Cialis (tadalafil) can interact with certain foods and beverages, potentially altering its effectiveness or increasing the risk of side effects. Here are the key drug-food interactions to be aware of:

A man who had been suffering from a rare form of the rare disease Cialis was admitted to a London hospital with signs of enlarged prostate. A team of doctors from the Royal General Medical College, Tarrytown, were able to diagnose the condition but were unable to find a doctor who could provide a definitive diagnosis.
Dr. Michael Mottler, a consultant urologist at Tarrytown, said he had no idea what he was talking about. The patient had been suffering from severe pulmonary hypertension for a long time, which is when he had developed an enlarged prostate.
The condition can cause urinary problems, and is more common in older men.
Mottler said the patient had been taking the drug tadalafil and had had no adverse side effects. The drug was prescribed to treat a type of enlarged prostate called benign prostatic hypertrophy, which can lead to urinary problems such as difficulty concentrating, poor balance, and an increased risk of developing bladder cancer.
The patient's family have now been notified.
Mottler said: “The patient is not suffering from severe pulmonary hypertension. The treatment is not for the prostate gland in the urethra but for the enlarged prostate itself.
“If a man with this condition has prostate enlargement, then a doctor will likely do some tests to rule out other conditions, such as benign prostatic hypertrophy.
“It is important that the doctor knows the patient's family. We cannot rule out other conditions that may be causing the enlarged prostate.
“Our first step is to see a urologist who will be able to offer a definitive diagnosis of the problem.
“A urologist is not a specialist and therefore will not be able to diagnose the condition but can offer the patient advice on whether to do further tests.
“The patient can also discuss with them if a urologist is available.
“The patient has not had any problems in the past but they are still suffering from the disease and have had no negative side effects.”
The patient, who was not previously diagnosed, was aged 45 at the time of his admission to the hospital and is now recovering from the operation.Mottler said the condition was very uncommon and most patients who were taking the drug had no symptoms. However, the symptoms included:
The man had severe symptoms, and the doctor gave him a prescription for tadalafil, which he took once daily to treat his enlarged prostate. The doctor said he was also told that he would be sent to hospital for further tests.
“This is very rare,” Dr. Mottler said. “It’s not a normal condition and it’s very important that the patient understand what this is all about.
“We have a very good team who are able to do this.
“It’s a very rare condition and we will need to do further tests.”
The man was discharged from the hospital in Tarrytown on 28 September.Tarrytown Medical Director and Chief Medical Officer Richard Balfour added: “There is no reason why this man should not be referred to general practice as a result of having a rare disease, but the patient needs to be referred to the general practice for further testing.”Tarrytown, on the north coast of England, has a long history of treating a number of different conditions and a number of doctors are now working in collaboration to improve their knowledge of the condition.
The hospital website for Tarrytown uses the NHS Clinical Prescribing Information to make prescribing easier for patients with a rare disease. Patients can also sign up for a free consultation to determine whether a specialist would be a good fit for their particular condition. If patients agree to take part, they can also request the patient’s medical name and contact details.
The patient, who is not currently diagnosed with a rare disease, has a right to be referred to the general practice for further tests, he said. The patient has been taking the drug tadalafil and has had no adverse side effects.
